This 1989 110 2.5 Turbo Diesel (19J) started out brand new as a police van. Later in 1989, it was blown up by a limpet mine outside a soccer stadium in Duduza Township on the East Rand. It was rebuilt by an engineering firm contracted to the government using ex-SADF Land Rover Series 3 S body parts and the Santana gearbox from a Series 3 S. (see photo of yellow police van) I bought the vehicle in very bad condition. (See photo of vehicle in cream colour) With the help of Vintage Restorations in George, did a full body of chassis restoration. There are a few photos of the restoration - note the caved in crossmember caused by the limpet mine blast, as well as a still partially burnt bump stop on the right rear suspension. These items were left on the vehicle because they were part of its history. The last photos show the vehicle in its present deep bronze green with galvanized cappings. The galvanized rock sliders were made from scratch by Etienne Brits of Vintage Restorations and are strong enough to lift the vehicle by the high lift jacking points on either end. All the photos may not be available due to 6 photo limit
