Defender 90

2.8i Turbo

A ground-up restoration by LR Defender SA in Centurion, and a rare specification to start with: the 2.8i straight-six was mostly a 110 fitment in South Africa, so finding one in a 90 is unusual before anything else happens to it. Everything came apart. Nut and bolt, back to bare metal, then built up again — the kind of job where the parts you never see get the same attention as the ones you do. The engine is where it gets interesting. The 2.8i has been converted to full boost, turning an already uncommon motor into something genuinely one-off, with trick details throughout for anyone who knows where to look. The car now lives in Stellenbosch.
